Something nice and heart breaking from Mumford & Sons….

This weekend I got to go home for my little brother and sister’s high school graduation party…’the babies” if you grew up in my house. I don’t get home all that often, but when I do I try to see as many people and do as much as I can, on Friday night I hung out at one of the two bars in my hometown and realized how nice it is that some things never change. While jobs, girlfriends, and maturity levels may have changed…I do love knowing that Ryan, Andy and Joe will always be in love with each other…Katie and Sarah will always be there to talk not only about what our lives were like but what our lives have become and Adam will always be that friend that I don’t talk to for 9 months but can pick up right where we left off. I realized that I’ve known these people practically since birth and that we’ve all grown up but still love getting together even if it is just for the weekend. As I sat with my brother and sister’s friends and listened to them say “this is our last summer” and “we’re never going to see each other again”, I could help but laugh to myself about how only 7 short (ahhemm lonnngggg) years ago I was sitting on the same steps saying the same thing and yet here I am 24 years old and still talking to those people who knew me when I had glasses and braces and a realllyyy bad haircut. If I could wish anything for my brother and sister it would be to cherish the time they are away (or close by as the case may be) but always remember that they are about to embark on the beginning of the greatest time in their lives and to remember that the people they’ve grown up with all these years will always be there no matter where they go…
“I’m gonna go backstage and I’m gonna vomit,” said lead singer Caleb Followill as he left the stage. ”I’m gonna drink a beer and I’m gonna come back out and play three more songs.”
While the band’s official statement attributes Caleb’s early departure to heat exhaustion, bassist Jared Followill has since suggested it was not just the heat that kept his brother from returning to the stage.
